Case Studies

Brindley Place, Birmingham

A New 12 storey office and retail development in Brindley Place was completed in April 2009. We installed and integrated CCTV, Access Control, Intercom, Door alert system and Turnstiles.

The CCTV included Videotronic's latest 4 series Real Time DVR connected to internal and external static domes and external high speed PTZ dome cameras.

IDL's Fastlane turnstiles controlled by PAC Access Control were installed at the Reception desk. In addition audio intercom from external doors allow the Reception staff to fully control site access for staff and vistiors. The Access Control and Intercom systems included the  basement car park, controlling the roller shutter access door plus individual offices within the building.

The door alert system warns the Reception staff and Estate Mangement that particular doors have been opened or left open.

All the systems installed are also controllable from the Estate Management Office located in the Brindley Place complex.

Cognita Schools Group Case Study

Having completed security upgrades at over 20 schools within the Cognita Schools Group, we have encountered every type of environment from Grade One listed buildings to Porta Cabins. Our services have ranged from all types of electronic security, including Access Control, CCTV and Video Door Entry,to physical protection systems including Perimeter Fencing and Gate Automation.

The philosophy of Lexicon is to offer comprehensive Project Management and independent guidance to organisations, incorporating the latest technology but also making the systems usable in the real world.

"We have been using Lexicon for many of our security improvement projects and have found them to be a professional company that provides a high regard for customer attention alongside the necessary technical experience"

Comments: I approached Lexicon (Europe) Limited as I had heard about their work through a friend. We are a seven Doctor GP Surgery in Wolverhampton, and as you can imagine are extremely busy at all times. We have recently started extending our surgery opening hours until 8.30pm following a survey of the needs of our 11,500 list of patients. Due to the funding implications it is not always viable to be fully staffed, sometimes meaning one Doctor and one member of the reception staff only are manning the premises. As you can imagine this raised a large security issue with such large premises and so few people, so I approached Laura Quick at Lexicon to advise us.

Laura came to see me at the Practice within days of contact and immediately struck me as highly professional and in tune with our needs. She walked through the building with me and listened as I explained our organisational ideas of the extending surgeries. Without trying to sell me massive alarm systems and gadgets she sensibly looked at our areas of general improvement for security in this instance. She advised us on a door entry system that could be operated by one member of staff allowing them to confirm patients’ identity before entry, and monitor entry and exit. She advised on all aspects of the necessary Health and Safety obligations of this system incorporating disabled access and emergency exit facilities. We followed on to discuss an alert system for the receptionist to the Doctors areas (there is already one from the Doctor to reception and an alarm to emergency services on the desk) This was an extra safety feature that the reception girls were particularly thrilled about as they felt it was a sure fire immediate aid if problems occurred, of course the Doctors would rush to their aid when appropriate (not happened yet though??)

The engineer who attended was very pleasant and non disruptive as the poor chap had to work around surgery times and hoards of patients coming and going. He was thorough and professional and (as far as a woman deems important) very tidy. The work was completed within a week and we were able to test it on our first extended opening night. The patients were a little bemused but have now got used to pressing the buzzer.

All in all, Lexicon (Europe) Limited was a pleasure to work with and worth every penny. Thank you for letting us feel safe in our environment.
