• Most CCTV systems are recorded on to VCR's or DVR's. DVR's (Digital Video Recorders) have taken over in the past few years as a far more efficient and flexible method of recording images.
• DVR'S allow images to be stored locally, transmitted offsite, or viewed over the internet (CCTV-over-IP).
• All digital CCTV images are watermarked, allowing them to be used as evidence.
• When considering CCTV you should be aware that CCTV recorded images in commercial environments are subject to the Data Protection Act 1998. This specifically addresses Public space recording. For more information regarding this issue you should contact the Information Commissioner www.ico.gov.uk
