Mega-pixel CCTV is the future of CCTV. The basic format is the same as Digital CCTV but has a huge advantage over conventional systems, namely image quality.
One of the biggest gripes with CCTV users is the quality of the recorded image or playback. A conventional camera can generate up to 500,000 pixels. Therefore the amount of pixels on an individual or object could be comparatively low. Mega-pixel cameras range from 1-meg (1 million pixels) to 16-meg (16 million pixels) in colour and 21-meg in black and white. Therefore the amount of pixels on any object is going to be significantly more - hence quality of the image.
